Enoki
Hi everyone,
We're all doing fine.
Esteban is undergoing several tests to establish a diagnosis. The child psychiatrist talked about autistic symptoms. We're seeing again on Tuesday for a result.
There have been some progresses lately. During the dance class, he joined the group for an activity by himself. He started talking to his teacher. He has eaten bread again, as well as thin slices of ham. He licked the hamburger bun and the meat of his hamburger.
Ilean is growing, doing more and more things, playing games, pretending to cook, to broom,.... So now Esteban imitates his brother and it's stimulating for him.
We're getting a dog to help Esteban come out of his shell. We met the puppies yesterday and will get the dog after Dec. 1. Here's Enoki:
It's a female Golden Retriever. She's so cute. Her parents are really nice too.
Talk to you soon
Don't hesitate to drop a line take care christel

Autism
Hi,
Esteban started school on September 3, with Miguel, his last year's teacher. He speaks really well now, with complex sentences. He now tries to repeat words in English and Spanish. since he was born, I've been singing 'baby love' to him and he loves it. Now, when he wants to hear the song, he says 'I need you'!! I've changed the lyrics so it's really a love song: baby love my baby love I need you, oh, how I need you and all you do is fill my heart with all your love and tender smiles baby baby baby
We're suspecting disorders from the autistic spectrum for Esteban: flapping, repeating, visual self stimulations, unexplained fears (noises, people coming close to the car when he's inside and we're parked,..), troubles with food, autonomy. We're seeing a child psychiatrist on Nov 16. We know it will be long for a precise diagnosis, but we need answers on how to deal with the troubles at home. It's difficult at the moment because he's been regressing this summer and now only eats dairy products and apple sauce. If you have any advices, they'll be welcome.
Iléan is doing well: 82,5cm (32,5 inches) and 11,7 kg (25,8 pounds) at 16 months old. He's starting to say a few words beside maman and papa: têtou (milk bottle), gâteau (cake), dodo (bedtime) and doudou (blankie). The 2 of them are starting to play together as well.
I hope to hear from you soon
Love, Christel |

the kitchen is white!!!
Hi everyone, I'm back... School is over since July 2. Esteban missed it and asked for it at the beginning of the holidays. Now he doesn't anymore as his dad (or me) takes him out for a walk in the morning. He's doing much better and his bronchitis is completely gone now. He's gained weight (after having the same weight for 6 months or so and losing some when sick) and has grown. He weighs 32 pounds and is 37.2 inches tall at 33 months. Iléan hasn't been sick lately and has his 16th month medical check-up next week. He's very active, eats the same thing as we do, but with his fingers!!!! I now know why his skin is so soft: he gets all kinds of facials: apricots, chocolate, red beets, tomatoes..... you name it!!! We're done painting the kitchen cabinets which were very dark. Look at the results: Of course now, the tiles on the floor and the wallpaper don't match, but we can't change that now. we're getting rid of the fireplace to replace it by a norwegian wood stove. It's tiny but enough to heat up the downstairs. I hear Iléan waking up... have to go now talk to you soon take care Christel

Finally!!
Hello, Esteban is "diaper-free" since May 17!!!! At school, they go 3 times in the morning. So, since the beginning of the month, during the weekends he has been wearing only underpants at home until his nap. And on Sunday the 17th, he didn't want to put his diaper on at all!!! He even cried when we put one on for his nap and for the night!!! We can go out for strolls without any problems. He asks when he needs to go.... it's great. Esteban will see a specialist on June 5th for his chewing problem: he doesn't have the reflex to chew, so he won't eat any pieces at all. He doesn't even want to bite into something. He's been eating baby food for over 2 years now... and to top it off, he doesn't want to eat by himself... not really interested in that.... ah boys! He received his new See Kai Run shoes for the summer. They're great, very comfortable and flexible. He knows several letters and can count to 5. Iléan
explores everything, climbs on everything, touches and grabs everything... you get the picture!!! He's sick again, just like his brother: Esteban has a bronchitis and Iléan an ear-and-nose infection with a bad cough..... and chicken pox may be coming his way: he has some bubbly spots on his head... On May 31st, all the family will be home for my birthday... I've stopped playing and don't count anymore... lol Take care Christel

one year old and growing
Hello,
long time no see!!! We're back.
Esteban's got a new hair cut:
Iléan
celebrated his 1st birthday and has been spoiled: un carrier, an
anti-UV Tee-shirt, a bathing trunk, a cube with games on all sides, a
bathrobe, and cash which will be used soon. We started outside and ate
inside.

Visit at the pediatrician: - Esteban (30 months old) is 92,5 cm tall for 13,7 kg (over 36 inches for 30.2 pounds). - Iléan (12 months old) is 77 cm for 10,950 kg (over 30 inches for 24 pounds). Iléan
started walking by himself a week after his birthday!!! We got him some
"Preschoolians" for those precious first steps. We hesitated between Preschoolians and See Kai Run. Both have great flexible shoes that respect children's feet and walking. We'll get this model by See Kai Run for Esteban for the summer. Iléan
has been back to the pediatrician yesterday, for yet another nose
infection that started 2 days after the end of the antibiotics
treatment. Our doctor spoke to a specialist in Montpellier regarding
Iléan's deficiency in IgG and IgA. He recommended we wait for another 6
months to check his levels again. Iléan doesn't have my antibodies
anymore and is making his own. So, hopefully, it's just a coincidence.
Otherwise, there is a treatment for IgG deficiency, but not for the IgA
one, which means he'll be prone to ear and nose infections, benign or
severe... we'll keep you posted. Hope to hear and read from you soon

Iléan & Esteban
Hello everyone,
Sorry about the delay in updating the blog; our 2 little "monsters" keep us really busy!!! They're doing fine, beside a bad cold that sometimes turns into ear infection for the little one. Not so little anymore: almost 30 inches for 23 pounds at 10 months!!
Winter break is over and Esteban went back to school. He really likes it. He got a hair cut during the holidays. Have a look:
He still doesn't eat pieces, but has tried jam and loves it:
His godmother (my sister) wrote him a poem when he was born. I've read it to him many times and now he knows it: he finishes the sentences even tough some words are difficult for him. It's so cute. The other day we recited it to my sister who was quite moved to hear him.
Iléan is a little tornado: goes everywhere, stands upon anything, goes up the stairs, stands up in his bath ring..... No more changing table: the changing mat is on the floor because he would get up or dive head first ... I even got an elbow tendinitis holding him to prevent him from falling: here he is
Talk to you soon
take care Christel, Fred, Esteban, Iléan

I two!!!
Howdy ho!!
We're a little bit late updating our blog. Sorry. Esteban turned 2 on Oct. 24!!! already....
He's been spoiled of course: a piggy-bank, a car with remote control, a pair of learning shoes to learn how to tie laces, flyers and so on, a red piano, the DVD & CD "Piccolo Saxo",
and a dancing "Dipsy"!!!! He loves Teletubbies and "Bear in the big blue house".
Here he is playing the piano. That was before he got his hair cut. That was really difficult for mommy. It took me about a week to get used to it, and it's not even short!!!
When asked about his age, he used to answer in English "I two", but has now been answering in French for the past couple of days.
As far as Iléan is concerned, he loves his baby-walker. He runs everywhere and fast too; and now has access to the plants.... I let you imagine all the things he can do
(picture taken on 09/23/08) He eats really well and likes everything so far.
yummy!!! I love this baseball outfit he got from Angela. He's the only baby around with such an outfit and it fits him really well.
That's it for now

Magic words
Hello everyone,
Last week, our 2 kids had their monthly medical visit.
Iléan, 6 months old, is growing well, very well. He's about 27 inches and weighs 19,8 pounds. He can almost sit now, eats well. As soon as he sees his brother, he wants to play with him! It's funny to watch that. He calls him up with little sounds to get his attention. He doesn't sleep well at night because of reflux, which makes him cough and suffocate. So, we get up 2 to 5 times a night... It'll get better with time.
Esteban, 2 years old, is doing well too: 29 pounds for 34,5 inches. He talks more and more, sings a lot. He loves "Three blind mice" at the moment and can listen to it over and over again.... He loves going out for walks.
Iléan is having a hard time falling asleep... he now understands he has to let go and doesn't want to.... really tough to be a baby!!!
Have to go!!
Talk to you soon

4 months old and growing
Howdy ho,
It's us! We're back.
Iléan had his 4th month visit: 26 inches for 16,7 lbs! He's doing fine!! Still not much hair, but it's still red. He really looks like his dad. So, we both have our own "mini-me"!!!
Esteban's doing great and tries to play with his brother! He sings many songs now and changes the words: he will hum a song and say "papa" on it, in rhythm. He imitates all the noises he hears. He's learning to count in French, English and Spanish, and for the fun, sometimes mom adds numbers in Japanese. He's till not diaper-trained, but will let us know when his diaper is dirty. He now accepts to sit on the potty, but it's so much fun to pee on the floor next to it while standing!!!

We've moved and are finaly settled down. Took us a while with the 2 little guys.
Thinking of you
much love,
Christel, Fred, Esteban, Iléan

He's here!!
Hi everybody,
My little brother has arrived!!!! His name is Iléan and he was born on April 18 at 8:18 am.
He weighed 7,46 pounds and was 19 inches tall at birth. He's got reddish-blond hair and blue eyes. Breastfeeding is not working well at all. Milk is here, he nurses well, but nothing or not much seems to be coming out. So he's been taking formula for one day now and has gained some weight. Mommy and the baby came back home today at noon.

Last stretch
Hello everyone,
Sorry, I haven't been good at keeping you updated. We've been kind of busy lately.
I've had my third visit at the hospital: everything is OK. The baby is doing fine. I've been having useful contractions: over 1 centimeter dilated. Hopefully it shouldn't be too long now.
Esteban loves to give hugs to the baby!!!
Esteban has been sick for the past 3 weeks or so: ear infections, gastro-enteritis. Last weekend, it was my turn, on top of a tendinitis at my left buttock!!! Can't go down or up the stairs, sit, stand up, every single move requires lots of efforts and pain!!! I'm so glad I've only gained 22 pounds!
Esteban has grown up: he's now over 32 inches tall and weighs 26 pounds. He loves to sing and can reproduce several nursery rhymes.
We've sold our condo and have also found a new home. We should move during the month of June. We've started packing books and things we don't need right now. That's a great relief for us. We can't wait to be there. So many things happening all at the same time... it's exciting!
That's all for now. We'll keep you posted if anything happens!!!
Talk to you soon,
Christel, Fred, Esteban

8th month
Howdy,
Last week, I had 2 important appointments: last ultrasound and the OB-GYN.
The baby is fine and active and his weight was estimated at 2,1 kilos (4,63 pounds) already!!! He's already upside down with his back on the left. I've gained 9.6 kilos (21 pounds) and my uterus is 32 centimeters high (12,6 inches) and my waist line is 40 inches long!!! Whatever I do or not, I have contractions. I'm taking yoga and sophrology classes for pregnant women. It's really great.
Esteban is doing fine. Some days he takes only 1 nap, especially if he wakes up "late" in the morning (7 am that is!!) He understands more and more things in French, English and Spanish. He plays a lot with Sticky the cat. Have to go now.
Talk to you soon. Take care, Christel, Fred, Esteban |

News from all of us
Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well. We're all fine here. Congratulations to Gabrielle and Eric for their beautiful daughter!!!!
I'm getting bigger and bigger every day (my waist line is over 39
inches now!!). I've gained a little over 19 pounds so far. I'll
have the 3rd ultrasound on the 25th of February and my 8th-month visit
on the 29th. I've started my childbirth classes already. This time I've
chosen to practise yoga and relaxation techniques. It's great, I'm so
relaxed that I always fall asleep at the end!!! Esteban is
doing well and growing. He's been walking by himself for over 1 month
and a half now. He's very cautious. On January 25th, he was over 31
inches tall and weighed over 26 lbs. He sings, or at least tries to. He
repeats melodies he hears with the right rhythm. He picks up words in
songs he hears on the radio, even in English songs. He understands easy
orders in French, English and Spanish, like "open your mouth", "pick up
the cube",... When we go for a stroll downtown, he knows where he is
and recognizes the different places!!! It's like he has a map in his
brain!!! It's amazing how fast babies learn things. We haven't picked out a name yet for baby #2. My list is done; Frederic has to do his. But, we've prepared our registry. There is a registry in a store in France: Bébé 9 6 avenue Jean Jaurès 12100 Millau Tel: 33 5 65 59 15 44 email: bb9millau@orange.fr And we've done a registry on Target too. If you're interested, just look under my first name and my married name in "TargetLists". Of course, nothing can be shipped directly to our address from Target's web site. And just like for Esteban, we've kept a wish list on Amazon. If you're interested, we can send you the link to our wish list. We
still haven't sold our condos, so we haven't bought anything else yet.
We're still visiting houses in Millau and in villages around here. And
we're also considering buying some land and building a house. We'll
see. But our region is expensive: a 6,300-square-feet land costs about
€75,000, and building a 1,300-square-feet house costs at least €130,000
for a very basic one (two-slope roof, one floor, electric heating,
rectangular,...). Anyway, that's the way the real estate market goes
around here. We'll see. I've to go now. Keep us posted with what's going on in your life!! Take care, Much love, Christel, Fred and Esteban

Happy new Year
|
Hello everybody, Happy new year to all of you!!! On December 19, I had my 2nd ultrasound. Everything is allright. It's a very active baby BOY!!!!! Now we have to find a boy's name; we had already picked a girl's name. Fred wanted to know the gender this time. I could have waited until the birth. Since the ultrasound is pretty much the only link with the baby, I didn't mind asking and knowing. Although, I like having the suprise at the end. Here is his profile and one of the 3D photos we got: THANK YOU JODI for your gifts!!! He'll be so cute. I can't pretty much carry Esteban anymore: my tummy is on the way and Esteban is about 26,5 pounds. He walks!!! but only when he feels like it. Going on all fours is a lot faster for him. He talks and repeats everything he hears: words, noises... He knows his first English song: the Eensy Weensy Spider and says "again" at the end. He shoots in ball and is fascinated with wheels on cars, trucks, motorcycles, vacuum cleaner,.... anything. His cousin Matthieu was the same way at his age. He has now 4 teeth and loves brushing them, especially when he sees us doing it. Yesterday I had my appointment with the OB-GYN for the 6th month. Everything is fine. She put me on sick leave because of all the contractions I've been having and the fatigue. I have a 25-centimeter uterus height (9,8 inches) and I've gained about 14 pounds since the beginning. I guess the holidays didn't help much!!! Especially in my family: we start on December 17 with my mom's birthday, then Christmas, New Year's, and we end up with my sister's birthday on January 2!!!! A party per week end!!!! That's it for the latest news. Talk to you soon, Love you, Esteban, Fred et Christel
